5 things every new business owner need to know
🌸You need to make space in your timetable and your mindspace for things to fall into place
When you work a day job alongside trying to make your passion job work, there's a point at which decisions have to be made… And it's very scary. Sometimes we hold on to the wrong things simply because they provide stability, and it's easier to have the decision made for us. Taking a leap will feel right at some point of your business development journey, and you might not want to listen because of fear.
I will caveat this by saying a bunch of savings in my account has been instrumental for me to take the leap. Following your intuition yes, but safety comes first.
🌸There's only so much you can do on your own
I am ultra independent and struggle to delegate. That means I was very overwhelmed a couple of times before paying someone to help me where I was lacking knowledge. And I wasn't serving my people the way they deserved to be served.
🌸You are on your own timeline
For the love of god stop comparing yourself to your mate who did the same training than you, or the person in your field who is 10years younger than you and killing it. Trust your own timeline. You can look at other people only if it inspires you. If it makes you feel like garbage then use the mute feature. Comparing to your disadvantage will only hinder you.
🌸If you keep working, things WILL work out. Be ready for it.
It might mean planting seeds for months of years but those seeds WILL grow. It might take you by surprise and you might not have the infrastructure ready… Because you stopped believing in yourself. After years of failing as a photographer and almost giving up, when I became successful I had to SCRAMBLE to have systems in place. Don't be me 🤡
🌸There's a fine line between compromise and sacrifice.
It is necessary to sometimes compromise on free time in order to nurture your business and promote its expansion. But if it come at the expense of you social life disappearing and your sleep fading away, it is time to slow down.
